About a year ago a number of people from Bonham were traveling to Sherman to participate their Senior Citizens Chair Volleyball game. Someone asked “Why don’t we have a league like this in Bonham?” … And it started.
ABOUT THE GAME: If you are thinking about the volleyball you used to play, you have no idea what the game is like. Chair volleyball is all about safety, exercise, socialization, and fun (but not necessarily in that order) Here are some of the differences.
- A team consists of 6 players in chairs rather than 9 people standing up
- The ball large and soft rather than hard, small, and leather covered.
- A team can hit the ball as many times as they need to (as opposed to three)
- If the ball hits the floor the volley isn’t over. A player can dribble the ball to get it back into play. The volley doesn’t end unless the ball rolls or goes out of bounds,
- The other way the volley can end is if a player raises up out of their seat or leans far enough that one or more of the chair’s legs come off the floor.
The league meets at the Methodist Family Life each Wednesday from 2 p.m to 4 p.m
Come play with us (or watch and decide if you want to)
